TV Review- Stargate Atlantis Season 1

Last year I watched Stargate Atlantis myself and LOVED it. Now I'm rewatching it with my siblings and we are all enjoying it. This is my review of the season one episodes for the 42 Challenge.
Synopsis of first season from Wikipedia: The first season is about a military-science expedition team discovering Atlantis and exploring the Pegasus Galaxy. However, there is no way to return home, and they inadvertently wake a hostile alien race known as the Wraith, whose primary goal is to gather a fleet to invade Atlantis and find their new "feeding ground", Earth.
A little about the characters. I love them all! Probably my least favorite of the main characters is Elizabeth Weir (the base commander) but I still like her. My favorites are John Shepherd (the military commander), Rodney Mckay (the scientist) and Dr. Carson Beckett (the medical doctor). I also love Teyla (fighter) and Sergeant Ford (military weapons expert) though.

Rising parts 1 and 2

This is a great introduction to the Stargate universe if you haven't seen the movie or Stargate SG-1 (I had only seen the first season of SG-1 before seeing Atlantis). It introduces all of the main characters as well as the enemy the Wraith... which I think are perfect villains for the show!

Hide and Seek

This is just a really fun episode. There's nothing really in it to move forward the plot... it's just hilarious! Mckay is one of my favorite characters and he's so funny in this one as well as of course Shepherd. "You shot him?" "In the leg!"

Thirty-Eight Minutes

This episode introduces Zelenka who is awesome and plays off of Mckay so well. This one is intense and fun and you start to learn a little more about the Wraith with it too.

Suspicion

A good episode and it helps to solidify Teyla as a member of the team.

Childhood's End

This one is kind of disturbing but Mckay trying to interact with the children makes up for that so it ends up being a pretty good episode.

Poisoning the Well

You get to see more of Dr. Beckett in this one. I'm a huge fan of Beckett so I love that. A good episode.

Underground

This episode introduces the Genii, who love to pop up at odd moments and make life difficult for the team. A fun episode with lots of repercussions.

Home

I like this episode but some don't. It's an intriguing one and as someone who had seen it before it was interesting to watch my siblings try to figure it out.

The Storm and The Eye

A two parter. These episode are very good and they bring back those pesky Genii. Kolya is a great villain and he really raises the odds.

The Defiant One

Another great episode. I love watching Shepherd use his military skills to take on the Wraith.

Hot Zone

At the beginning of the show you learn a little about how Shepherd isn't always good about following orders and you see that play out in this episode. Mckay has some funny moments in this one. "Tell them I died saving children." :)

Sanctuary

Not my favorite episode but enjoyable. No romance please. :)

Before I Sleep

A fascinating episode with some time travel, which, as we all know, is very Lois approved. I enjoy this one.

The Brotherhood

That pesky Kolya with his Genii buddies shows up again! Mckay has some great moments when he's so oblivious to the fact that the lady has a crush on him. :)

Letters from Pegasus

I like this episode a lot. It's beautifully sad and funny to see the messages that they all send back to their families. Mckay's message is the best!

The Gift

Let's just say Teyla as a Wraith is creepy looking! It's an interesting introduction to her "gift" though.

The Siege parts 1,2 and 3

A gripping conclusion with plenty of cliffhangers! But Ford!!!!! That just broke my heart! If you've seen it you know what I mean. Ford is awesome.

Movie Review- Doctor Who

For the 42 challenge I'll be reviewing the Doctor Who movie.
When I first heard about the Doctor Who movie I heard it wasn't that great... in fact awful. I thought people were probably overreacting.... they weren't. The movie was supposed to be an attempt to reboot the show... I see why it failed.
I liked Paul McGann as the Doctor... he was the best part of the movie. Sure the dialogue he was given wasn't great but he did the best he could with it. I would have loved to have seen him more as the Doctor besides that tiny clip before Day of the Doctor. I think with a good script he could have been a great Doctor. Also a nice nod to Sylvester McCoy in his little bit before he regenerates. Though that was the lamest way the Doctor has died yet!
The T.A.R.D.I.S. interior was interesting though... I'm not sure whether or not I like it or not... it was different.
The companion Grace Holloway wasn't bad but wasn't great. It's kind of cool that she's a medical doctor and that she was operating on the Doctor. I thought it a little funny how she ended up messing up the surgery because of his two hearts. When he pulls that probe out of himself though.....
The Master is the villain of the story but he was just super weird.... not in a funny way like in the New Who but in a really creepy and utterly stupid way. I was not at all taken with him... not that you're really supposed to like the Master but the whole thing with him was ridiculous.
Chang Lee the young Chinese-American just doesn't make any sense. Why is he there and why do we care? This of course brings us to the whole Eye of Harmony thing and that the Doctor is half human. I'm not sure I'm totally against the Doctor being half human though I know it's a controversial point and one fans like to pretend didn't happen. I don't think the movie is considered canon so we can pretend it didn't happen if we want to. ;) The Eye of Harmony thing though was just weird and dumb.
I think the film just suffered from a bad script and not the greatest acting jobs.
If you're a Doctor Who fan you might enjoy watching it just to see what it's like but you'll probably be disappointed. If you're not a Doctor Who fan... you'll just be confused and probably never want to watch Doctor Who so don't because I promise you the show is so much better!

Classic Doctor Who TV Reviews

Earlier this year while on the way to Colorado for a family ski trip, my cousin and I watched a few classic Doctor Who episodes. It was very interesting to see the roots of the modern day Doctor Who and look at how far it had come. Here's my reviews of them for the 42 Challenge.

An Unearthly Child

The very first episode of Doctor Who with William Hartnell playing the Doctor. It was so cool to see this episode and see where it all started. There's the introduction of the T.A.R.D.I.S. the first companion Susan (his granddaughter) and the whole Doctor Who world. There wasn't any alien involvement in it except a tiny peak into the next episode at the end of it. It was still quite enjoyable to experience it though.

An Ark in Space

A fourth doctor episode with Tom Baker playing the Doctor and Sarah Jane as his companion. This is a very popular Tom Baker episode so that's why I chose it to watch but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It was funny in parts for sure and I love his scarf..... that thing is so long! The special effects are lacking... but that's not their fault. It is funny though that they used bubble wrap as the slug slime stuff in this one. I read that they chose bubble wrap as it was a new invention at that time and everyone thought it was so cool.... sadly bubble wrap does not look very cool or sci-fi nowadays. Overall it was enjoyable but I'd like to experience a different Tom Baker episode to see more of him... maybe Genesis of the Daleks.

See what I mean about he bubble wrap!

Earthshock

A fifth doctor episode with Peter Davidson playing the Doctor. I liked this episode and I really liked Peter Davidson as the Doctor. I can see why he was David Tennant's favorite. It was interesting to see the older Cyberman... they look... different. The companions in this one are Nyssa, Tegan and Adric.

Dragonfire

A seventh doctor episode with Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor. This was one of McCoy's first episodes as the Doctor and also introduced a new companion Ace. I liked McCoy as the Doctor a lot and I also really liked Ace. She was lots of fun. Mel Bush was also a companion in this episode. Overall I enjoyed Dragonflre.

I hope to see more Classic Who episodes in the future and especially explore some of the other Doctors.

TV Review- Doctor Who Season Nine

After a rocky last season, it was great to see a more solid season in season nine of Doctor Who. For the 42 Challenge I'll be reviewing it. Since several of the episodes this series were two parters I'm reviewing the two parts together.

The Magician's Apprentice and the Witch's Familiar

These episodes sees the reappearance of Missy (aka the Master) along with of course the Doctor and Clara. Davros, the creator of the Daleks along with is creations show up for a classic episode. I love how this episode showed the Doctor giving mercy to Davros as a child which caused Davros to instill a sense of mercy in the Daleks. A solid beginning to the series.

Under the Lake and Before the Flood

I really enjoyed these episodes and that they had a deaf person and sign language! Very different but lots of fun. Plenty of scare as well. :) And the notecards that Clara made for the Doctor are so perfect. He needs them... he never says the right thing... much to our enjoyment. :)

The Girl who Died and The Women who Lived

I preferred the Girl who Died over The Women who Lived but they were both enjoyable. The introduction of Ashildr (aka "Me") is interesting. Personally I'm not a fan of Ashildr but I do find her interesting. She's so sad and angry... I pity her. I think the Doctor is right on not taking her with him in the T.A.R.D.I.S. and I hope she doesn't become the next companion.

The Zygon Invasion and The Zygon Inversion

Maybe my favorites of the series, especially The Zygon Inversion. I love the Doctor's speech in it. Clara as Bonnie is well done and you can really see Jenna Coleman's acting talent in it.

Sleep no More

I'm so-so on this episode and it seems the general opinion on this episode is all over the place... some love it some hate it. I'm in the middle somewhere. It was kind of boring but the concept was quite... original... and the twist at the end was unexpected. I am interested to see if they'll continue on with where the end of the episode left off.

Face the Raven

What to say about this episode? It was a good episode, great plot... but.... SPOILERS!!!
Massive spoilers below!!!

Clara died!!!! I mean we all knew she was going to leave sometime this series and my guess was that she would die but still... it was sad. Her speech to the doctor at the end was beautiful. Overall though I did feel like there was something lacking in her farewell. The question is though... is she really dead? I guess we'll find out. :)

END SPOILERS

Heaven Sent

What a cool episode! Very different then the others with mainly just the Doctor appearing in it the whole time. Quite chilling as well. And the reveal at the end! Ahhhh! I couldn't wait for the next episode! :)

Hell Bent

Not what I expected. I do feel like after so much build up about finding Gallifrey when he actually found it he was just focusing on Clara... not on Gallifrey. It was a little anticlimactic. I'm not sure how I feel about the Clara twist either. I think it worked for the most part though. The Doctor really needed to let go of her and how they concluded that was pretty well done. Overall I enjoyed it. :)

There's my thoughts! Now I'm excitedly anticipating the Christmas special and the return of River Song!!!!! :)

Movie Review- Serenity

When the TV show Firefly never got rebooted, fans went to great lengths to bring about a sequel film titled Serenity. Since I already gave a character run down in my review of Firefly I encourage you to go my review to see it if you're interested. :)

Serenity picks back up on the adventures of Mal and his renegade crew on the ship Serenity. Once again assassins sent by the Alliance are after River Tamm and the crew is on the run. They soon find out though that the Alliance will stop at nothing to get River back. Along the way the discover a secret the Alliance is trying hard to hide.

This is a great conclusion to what Firefly started, though of course it would have been better if Firefly had just never ended! There are certain horribly heartbreaking moments that I won't give away but overall it is full of the same fun and sic-fi/western flair that was a hallmark of Firefly. One nice thing about serenity is that there is no inappropriate scenes in it as there is in Firefly, just some innuendo.
If you like Firefly you'll love Serenity too. :)

TV Review- Firefly

This year I've managed to watch the TV show Firefly twice! For the 42 Challenge I'll be reviewing it. Firefly is a sci-fi show with a western flair to it made by Joss Whedon. First off, Firefly is a really great with lots of humor and I love watching it but it has a lot of inappropriate content. My mind tends to automatically bleep out bad words so that's one problem solved and then I dim the screen on my computer for inappropriate sex scenes. The inappropriate sex scenes are what I have the most problem with in the show. While there are quite a few they don't show anything explicit at all. Violence and gore I can handle for the most part.

Here's a character run down.

Malcom Reynolds (Mal)- Played by Nathan Fillion!!!!

The captain of the ship Serenity, a smuggling ship. During the Civil War fought between the Alliance and the Independents (aka the Browncoats) he fought with the Browncoats but they lost. As he says, "May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one." He has his own moral compass but is fiercely loyal to his crew.

Zoe Washburn

Mal's second mate on Serenity. During the war she fought with Mal and is a very capable fighter. She's married to Wash.

Hoban Washburn (Wash)

The pilot of Serenity. He's married to Zoe. He's lots of fun and adds lots of laughs.

Inara Serra

Inara is a Companion, which is 26th century speak for a high class prostitute. She adds a lot of the inappropriateness to the show. She flies with the ship to add a sense of respectability to it plus as she will admit she likes the adventure.

Jayne Cobb

The man they call Jayne. :) Jayne is basically a hired gun, a mercenary and he is indeed very mercenary. His moral compass is quite off but he's loyal to Mal. He will make you laugh often.

Kaylee Frye

Kaylee is the ship's mechanic. She has a big heart and genuinely loves everybody. She is always happy and is always trying to cheer everyone up. I like her a lot. :)

Dr. Simon Tamm

A very gifted trauma surgeon. Currently he is on the run from the Alliance after rescuing his sister River from their school where the Alliance was experimenting on her brain in secret. He shows so much love and care for his sister that I personally find beautiful. :) He takes refuge with the crew of the Serenity and becomes their Doctor.

River Tamm

The incredibly gifted sister of Dr. Simon Tamm. At the Alliance school where she went her genius was recognized and they experimented on her brain in secret until Simon found out about it and rescued her from there. Now she is on the run from the Alliance with her brother. Throughout the show her various abilities are shown such as how she has psychic power, she's very intuitive and is also an incredibly fighter. However due to what the Alliance did to her she will have fits of delusions, anxiety and flashbacks making her sometimes erratic.

Derrial Book

Book is a Shepherd, which is basically a pastor. He takes ship with the Serenity and tries to add some morality to their lives. He's very devout but shows a surprising amount of knowledge about military tactics, the government and weapons.

Here's an episode by episode run down. There was sadly only one season of this show though there was was a movie spin off made in 2005 as well which was great.

Serenity

Synopsis from Wikipedia: Malcolm Reynolds is a veteran and the captain of Serenity. He and his crew are smuggling goods, but they need to pick up some passengers for extra money. However, not all the passengers are what they seem.
A very fun first episode with great introductions to all of the characters. One inappropriate scene with Inara as well as when you first meet River she's nude but cruel up in a ball so you don't see anything horrible.

The Train Job

Synopsis from Wikipedia: The crew of Serenity takes on a train heist commissioned by a crime lord. They steal the goods, only to find it is medicine that is desperately needed by the town.
Lot's of fun!

Bushwhacked

Synopsis from Wikipedia: Serenity is pulled in by an Alliance cruiser while investigating a spaceship that was attacked by Reavers. Simon and River must hide to prevent capture, while something is wrong with the lone survivor of the attacked spaceship.
You get to learn more about the Reavers in this episode. It's lots of fun. :)

Shindig

Synopsis from Wikipedia: Inara attends a formal society dance, only to find Malcolm there as well, attempting to set up a smuggling job. Mal comes to blows with Inara's conceited date and finds himself facing a duel with a renowned swordsman, and only one night to learn how to fence.
This is a very fun episode with plenty of Kaylee, who I love. :) One inappropriate scene with Inara.

Safe

Synopsis from Wikipedia: Mal must choose which crew members to save when one is gravely wounded and two others are kidnapped. Simon finds an uneasy haven in a remote village, but River's uncanny perceptions jeopardize the Tams' temporary safety.
You begin to see more of River Tamm's abilities in this one, most importantly her psychic abilities.

Our Mrs. Reynolds

Synopsis from Wikipedia: As an unexpected reward for an unpaid job, Mal finds himself married to a naïve, subservient young woman named Saffron. The crew are amused at his discomfort and Book lectures him on propriety, but things are not as smoothly straightforward as they thought them to be.
I love this episode! It is SO funny! Unfortunately it also has a fair amount of inappropriateness but specifically in one scene.

Jaynestown

Synopsis from Wikipedia: Returning to a planet where he ran into some serious trouble years ago, Jayne discovers that he has become a local folk legend. Mal decides to use this entertaining distraction to complete a job, but some unfinished business may derail his plans.
Maybe the funniest episode. You also get to learn a lot more about Jayne in this one. One inappropriate scene with Inara.

Out of Gas

Synopsis from Wikipedia: After Serenity suffers a catastrophe that leaves her crew with only hours of oxygen, flashbacks show how Mal and Zoe acquired Serenity and assembled their motley crew.
I absolutely loved learning more about the crew in this one. You get most all of their backstories as well as learning about when Mal and Zoe first found Serenity. One inappropriate scene in this one but very short and you don't really see anything.

Ariel

Synopsis from Wikipedia: Hard up for cash, Serenity takes on a job from Simon: help him get a thorough diagnostic of River in return for the opportunity to loot the vast medical stores of an Alliance hospital on central world Ariel. But River's pursuers are hot on their trail, and they receive some unexpected inside help.
You learn more about what the Alliance did to River. This episode is fun and funny but also gets dark at the end (spoilers!). One of the nice aspects of this one is that Inara is away for most of it so really no inappropriate content. :)

War Stories

Synopsis from Wikipedia: Angered at Zoe's unshakable war connection to Mal, Wash demands a shot at a field assignment. Unfortunately, crime lord Niska chooses this moment to exact a brutal vengeance for Mal's failure to complete an earlier job.
This is the most gory episode and it's very intense. Not for the faint of heart. ;) This episode explores a question I asked my dad earlier in the season "Does Wash every get jealous of Zoe's loyalty to Mal?". Yes, yes he does. A little unfairly so, but he does. I think he got straightened out after this episode though. :) I've got to say now while I'm thinking about it that I think Wash and Zoe are such an adorable couple! Again your see more of River's abilities in this one. Of major note with inappropriateness Inara has a female client in this one with an inappropriate scene. :(

Trash

Synopsis from Wikipedia: Saffron returns to plague Serenity with a scheme to steal a rare antique weapon from a wealthy landowner. Unfortunately for Mal, she neglects to mention just how she came across the information needed to break into the landowner's home.
Ah Saffron. A fun episode but there is nudity from the back shown at the very beginning and then again at the very end for just a little bit. :(

The Message

Synopsis from Wikipedia: A former Independence soldier who had served with Mal and Zoe returns in a dramatic manner, with a vicious Alliance officer chasing after him for some unusual smuggled goods.
This is almost my least favorite of the episodes (my least favorite is to come). It's good but it's just not great.

Heart of Gold

Synopsis from Wikipedia: A Companion-trained friend of Inara's who runs a brothel on a remote planet calls for help from Serenity when a local bigwig reveals his intentions to take the baby from a girl he impregnated.
My advice.... skip this episode. My brother recommended I do it but I didn't. I regret that. Since it takes place in a brothel it just gets so much more inappropriate than the others and it wasn't nearly as good as the others and it wasn't really funny and overall it just wasn't worth it.

Objects in Space

Synopsis from Goodreads: Serenity encounters a ruthlessly professional bounty hunter, Jubal Early, who will stop at nothing to retrieve River. But River, feeling unwelcome on the ship, takes a novel approach to escaping from the long arm of the Alliance.
A very good conclusion to the season. Early is a fascinating villain and it's amazing to see River work against him.

So there's my mini reviews! I really love this show but as I said one inappropriate scene per almost every episode plus innuendo every once and awhile makes it difficult to watch. :( If you watch it, watch with caution and not around your kids. I'll be reviewing the movie the movie Serenity that was made as a spin off the show in the future. :)

TV Shows

I've mentioned quite a lot on here about the different TV shows I watched so I thought I might share a little about them as well as mention ones I want to watch in the future.

Monk

Is the first modern TV show I ever watched. It follows an obsessive compulsive detective as he solves crimes while ultimately trying to figure out who killed his wife. This show has occasional mild bad language, some not the most modest clothing at times, a couple episodes where there was some suggestive speech, and of course a little gore. I would consider it very family friendly though. My younger siblings are always allowed to watch these as long as we have screened it before. There are just a couple episodes that I would really consider not worth watching and as for the rest they should be fine depending on maturity level.

Psych

Follows Sean Spencer, a private detective who has convinced the world he is psychic to explain his incredible observation skills taught to him by his ex-police officer father. This show has more occasional mild bad language, some not the most modest clothing at times, some suggestive speech a few iffy scenes, and a little gore. There are only a couple episodes I can think of off the top of my head that one of them I wish I hadn't watched and the other I was warned not to watch and didn't. Psych is definitely for a more mature audience but is still relatively clean.

Castle

Follows Rick Castle, an author of mystery novels who is called in to consult after a murder uses a method described in one of his books to kill somebody. Of my three cop shows that I have watched, this is the least clean. I have put them in order of cleanest to least clean. This show has more occasional mild bad language, more not so modest clothing at time, some suggestive speech and some suggestive scenes, and some gore. I have not watched all of Castle. I have watched the first season and part of the second as well as random bits here and there. Because its not always the cleanest its hard to consistently watch it and while I do like Castle, there are shows right now that I enjoy more. You are more likely to find episodes in Castle that should be skipped.

Human Target

Only ran for two seasons which made me very unhappy. It follows an ex-assassian who reformed and now saves people with the help of another ex-assassian and an ex-cop. This show has occasional mild bad language, some not the most modest clothing at times, a bit of suggestive speech, and some gore and violence. For its subject matter, this a pretty clean show. I always really enjoyed it and it is so disappointing that it only ran for two seasons.

Foyle's War

Take place during World War 2 and follows a police officer solving crimes during that time period. This show has occasional mild bad language, some more mature themes, and some gore and violence. This was a pretty clean show as I recall and quite historically accurate. I was watching through it during my first semester at Butler but stopped and I can't remember why as I know I really liked it. Someday I need to finish it.

Sherlock

Is amazing! It is the modern day telling of the story of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. In this show off the top of my head here's what I can think of; some british language, some references to homosexuality and some gore. This is all omitting the first episode of the second season that should NOT be watched. I haven't seen it but I have been informed by everyone that it is inappropriate so I'll take their word for it and skip it.

Stargate SG-1

I just started this last month and I am steadily working my way through it. Do NOT watch the first episode of the first season. Besides that, so far what to look out for is some not so modest clothing at times, some mild bad language at times and some suggestive speech/scenes in a couple episodes that isn't terrible but I'd just fast forward through. This is my first sci-fi show to watch and I am enjoying it so far. I really can't think of a good synopsis so maybe you should just look it up on Wikipedia. :)

Shows I want to watch/thinking about watching

Doctor Who

I know you can't believe I haven't watched that yet. That is what I plan to watch next and I am really looking forward to it.

Call the Midwife

My library just got this recently but then someone checked out the first season before I could run it by my Dad. But it looks very interesting and I am going to give it a try.

Elementary

This is also a modern retelling of Sherlock Holmes but it takes place in America.

Stargate Atlantis

This follows after Stargate SG-1.

What are your favorite TV shows? Any other recommendations? Warnings?

Life... The Good, the Bad, and the CrAzY

Tuesday I began classes once again. It was a little weird getting back into the swing of things but I transitioned pretty quickly.  However, I managed to make a flub at work pretty quickly... I forgot to lock the DVD cases for several DVDs and then shelved them. Yep, stupid mistake, and then I had to go back and find all of them and since I forgot which ones they were, I had to go through the ENTIRE DVD collection to find them. Let's just say I had my work cut out for me.
Besides that though everything is going pretty well with school.  My classes look like they'll be fun and informative, which is just about all one can ask for in a class. I have high hopes for this semester even with Pathophysiology. :)
After finishing watching through the whole of the TV series Monk last semester, I decided it was time to start a new TV series.  I decided on Psych, as I had already seen a few episodes and liked them as well as having had it recommended to me multiple times.  I have watched the first few episodes and I'm liking it so far.  It definitely isn't as clean as Monk but it is still good.
I am sure you are all wondering how my Christmas break went (you aren't? Well I'll tell you anyways). Right after Christmas I went to Michigan and spent two weeks with my cousins up there.  I had tons of fun and got incredibly pampered. Then I came back to Kansas and regrouped with a lot of my Dad's family and a friend to go up to Colorado and ski.  This was my first time skiing so I defiantly fell a lot.  However, I am proud to say that on the last day of skiing I didn't fall once. :)  All in all I had a lot of fun skiing and I hope to be able to do it again.
My dear cousin got me addicted to the blog It Just Gets Stranger recently (link in sidebar).  She just couldn't handle her addiction herself so she had to share it... but why with me???  Since then my shy self has been constantly plagued with the idea that I should be pranking/messing with people.  Why? I don't know, my brain goes weird places sometimes.  So I tried my hand out at it when I was playing my old faithful online Dominion.  It came to me, as things often do, all of a sudden.  I started chatting in the text book, using Spanish.  I was able to convince one person I was a Spanish speaker.  Our conversation was hilarious... fyi "gg" means "good game", we had just finished the game (I won!),  I think I have gone over to the dark side because I was getting WAY to big of a kick out of it. :)

21:41 Eowyn: Hola! Buena suerte!
21:41 stormslayer: hi
21:42 stormslayer: como esta?
21:43 Eowyn: Muy bien gracias. Y usted?
21:43 stormslayer: bien
21:43 Eowyn: :)
21:43 stormslayer: no hablomas espaniol
21:44 Eowyn: si
21:46 stormslayer: habla ingles?
21:46 Eowyn: Un poco.
21:47 stormslayer: What is the correct form to say "goodbye" in spanish? I once said "vaya con dios" and was yelled at in Mexico
21:48 Eowyn: adios
21:48 stormslayer: Why was "vaya con dios" offensive?
21:48 Eowyn: no sé. means go with God
21:48 stormslayer: or were they simply making fun of me b/c it's too formal
21:48 stormslayer: gg
21:48 Eowyn: Estoy de España.
21:48 stormslayer: ah.
21:48 stormslayer: thanks.

I always knew my 21 hours of Spanish would come in handy.
On a more serious note, life has just recently intensified.  Last Saturday morning my Grandma had a major stroke.  She has made a lot of progress since then but is still unable to talk. My family and I would appreciate your prayers.
