I'd love to revisit Romeo and Juliet at some point; the 1968 and 1996 adaptations obviously stand out in mind, but I haven't actually revisited the text since high school so it'd be cool to do that. Great list, looks like you have some awesome classics coming up on your reading list. Happy reading :)

I haven't watched any film versions yet but once I've finished it I'm going to! :)
DeleteGreat list. I do plan on reading Gone with the wind soon. I love the movie, but have never read the book.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting out on watching the movie until I've read the book. :)
DeleteI've been thinking about rereading Gone With The Wind!
ReplyDeleteArmadale is one of my favorite by Wilkie Collins. Though it would probably be hard to pick just one book as my very favorite!
I've liked the other Wilkie Collins books I've read so I'm excited for Armadale! :)
DeleteRebecca is very good. I discussed with my mystery group last fall. Atmospheric.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued to read it! The movie was definitely atmospheric. :)
DeleteYou have a great line up....Gone With the Wind, Romeo and Juliet, Little Women...
ReplyDeleteG.A. Henty is a favorite in our homeschool. : )
Henry was a favorite of my family's with homeschooling as well. :)
DeleteI love Little Women so much. Ican't even guess how many times I have reread that.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Gone With the Wind since 8th grade or Romeo and Juliet since 9th.
This is a great list. Thanks for sharing!
Amanda
Thank you. :) I know I've re-read Little Women far too many times myself. :) It's the kind of book that just gets better with each reading! :)
DeleteWe've got Walter Scott in common, though I'm reading Rob Roy. I've read Ivanhoe, but it wasn't at the right time for me so at some point I'll have to re-read. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - I want to read that this year too! Possibly a bit later on though.
ReplyDeleteAnd again, looking forward to seeing how you get on with Dickens - I can't wait to start it! :)
When I read Ivanhoe I don't think it was at the right time for me either as I wasn't terribly fond of it... which is why I'm re-reading it now.
DeleteIt will be fun to compare our thoughts on Dickens. :)
Those all sound fun!
ReplyDeleteI've heard of Rebecca…I need to look into it someday;)
There's a great film version of it that Alfred Hitchcock made that I know differs somewhat but is still good. If you want an introduction to the book you might try it. Or, as is always my motto, read the book first and enjoy the movie later. ;)
DeleteI have no idea if people are going to join me? But I'm hosting a very casual group read of Gone with the Wind this summer, if you'd like company. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely be interested! I'll be following this. :)
DeleteSo excited you're joining, Lois!! I wanted to let you know I made us a button for the group read -- as and if you need one. It's in the post from yesterday, near the bottom. I wasn't quite on top of that yet, when I posted. :-)
DeleteOkay. :)
DeleteGreat choices, I love that you've included some rereads. I'm sure I read Little Women when I was very young and liked it a lot! You should have put Dracula on here ;) or maybe you're saving that for October!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my TTT!

Lol. :) Unfortunately I don't think I will be getting to Dracula this year but I'll be making it a priority next year!
