It's Monday! NCLEX!

Years of school have lead up to this moment. Sure I passed nursing school but I don't get that coveted RN title until I pass the NCLEX. Today I'm taking it. No pressure... ;)
Oh, and I got the job I really wanted working on a med-surg floor! Of course that's contingent on my passing the NCLEX. Again... no pressure.... ;)
I'm sorry I didn't get an It's Monday post done last week but with being out of town it just didn't happen. So this is an accumulation of the past couple weeks. :) I'll have reviews out for the books I've finished hopefully soon but I've been busy with studying so I haven't gotten them done yet except my Little Women review as I needed it done by the end of May.

Finished in the last two weeks

  • Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (re-read) (audiobook)- Long car trips are great for audiobooks! READ MY BOOK REVIEW HERE
  • Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell- About nine weeks too early for the read-a-long but I got done with Little Women on the way up to Michigan so I read Gone With the Wind on the way back and finished it just a couple hours after getting home. That book was gripping for reasons that still confuse me. It's a complicated book. Full review hopefully coming soon once I have more time.
  • Big Red by Jim Kjelgaard (re-read)- It was fun to re-read this. It's a classic boy and dog story.

Currently Reading

  • The Valley of Vision
  • Swallows and Amazons (re-read)

Coming Soon

  • Barnaby Rudge by Charles Dickens
  • How Green is My Valley by Richard Lewellyn

It's Monday! And Life Goes On...

It's hard to imagine life outside of school when you're in the mist of it and even when you're just taking a break for the summer all you can think about is the next semester's school load. So now, even with being done with my associates, it still doesn't feel quite freeing. Partly because I'm diligently (lol) preparing for the NCLEX (nursing state boards) and partly because I know that eventually I'll most likely go on and get my bachelors. However, I have discovered that in this beautiful respite I have right now, that life does go on outside of school. I'm enjoying reading more and watching all the movies/TV shows that I've foregone for studying. I finished watching one of my new favorite TV shows Leverage last week and now I'm working on the last couple seasons of Psych. I broke off watching Psych a couple years ago at the end of season six and I'm just now getting back to it. I've heard these last couple seasons aren't as good anyways but I'd still like to finish it. After that I'm unsure... I'm torn between Stargate: SG-1 and Call the Midwife. I know I'd love them both so I just can't decide!
Anyways... reading!

Finished this Week

  • The Fearsome Inn by Isaac Bashevis Singer
  • Zlateh the Goat and other stories by Isaac Bashevis Singer
  • When Shlemiel went to Warsaw and other stories by Isaac Bashevis Singer

Currently Reading

  • Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell- Read-a-long is going well and so far I haven't fallen behind. ;)
  • Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (re-read) (audiobook)- Such a fun re-read and beautiful to hear narrated by Barbara Caruso.
  • Trusting God by Jerry Bridges- Really good! Getting close to the end. I'm trying to take it slowly and not rush it because I don't want to lose any of the deeper points in my rush.
  • Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransom (re-read)- Reading aloud to my brother. No more progress this week. I had a cold so my throat couldn't tolerate it. :(
  • The Valley of Vision- I'm getting close to being done with this one too! This is one of my new favorite books and I could not recommend it more highly! It is a beautiful collection of Puritan prayers. My parents gave it to me for my birthday at the beginning of the year and since then I've been reading one or two prayers every night when I read my Bible. It had been a huge blessing in my life.

Graduated from Nursing School!!!!

Yesterday, after two too many years of nursing school ;) I finally graduated from nursing school! It's been a long road and you all, my poor blog readers, have had to hear me moan about it all this time. ;) I'm so thankful to be through it but I am also so thankful for the invaluable education and life lessons I have garnered from it. Next is taking my state boards, aka the fearsome NCLEX! So my moaning isn't over yet. ;)
Here are some pictures of the joyous occasion though!
Having a drink after finding out we passed with
my amazing nursing school friend April. We
couldn't have made it through without each other.
And yes that's A drink... mixed with orange juice no less!
My little siblings and I before the ceremony!

My parents and I. :)
That's my Dad. ;)

Thank you everyone for cheering me on through this nursing school marathon! It's been crazy fun! :)

Bout of Books- Day 1&2 Updates

Bout of BooksI've been a little behind with the Bout of Books updates but I'm catching up! I had this little matter of a final that heavily influenced my future and work so I wasn't really having time for blogging. I did have time for reading though. :)
Oh, and yes, I PASSED NURSING SCHOOL!!! I'll be graduating at the nursing pinning ceremony on Thursday!!!! More details and fun pictures then. :)
So far for Bout of Books I've read:

  • Gone With the Wind- Six chapters
  • Little Women (audiobook) (re-read)- 1 chapter
  • Zlateh the Goat and Other Stories- COMPLETED
  • When Shlemiel went to Warsaw and Other Stories- COMPLETED
Pretty good so far! The two last are children's books so were fairly quick reads but I'm still proud of myself. ;)

It's Monday! One more Week and than Graduation!!!!

How do you like my new blog layout? I used to change my layout all of the time but then about this time last year I stopped. However, I'm glad I've done a change. :) My favorite part is my new header and the best part about the header is that it encompasses so much geekiness in one place!!!! No it doesn't include all of my favorite things but it includes the most important ones... Lord of the Rings, Pride and Prejudice and Doctor Who. :) I might do some more changes with the layout in the next couple weeks just to tweak it. We'll see. :)

I am really and truly in the last stretch of school! I just have this week of a preparatory class for NCLEX (Nursing state boards) and then my final and I graduate! There's also the little matter of actually taking the NCLEX but one thing at a time! ;)

I was able to (finally) watch the 2002 film version of The Importance of Being Ernest (I've already watched the 1952 version). I enjoyed it a lot, though it was weird seeing Colin Firth in a different roll than Mr. Darcy. It did have it's issues though. All in all though enjoyable. Both version are actually. :)

Currently Reading- I know it's a lot! This isn't normal for me. :)

  • Trusting God: Even When Life Hurts by Jerry Bridges
  • Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (re-read) (audiobook)- It's narrated by Barbara Caruso! I'm so thrilled! She narrated the Anne of Green Gables audiobooks that I listened to earlier this year and adored.
  • Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransom (re-read)- As I said last week, I'm reading this aloud to my little brother. Surprisingly he's already starting to enjoy it. He kept me going four chapters straight the other day. My throat was getting really dry!
  • The Valley of Vision

Finished this Week

  • Boys of Blur by N.D. Wilson

Coming Soon

  • Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell- Readathon started this past Friday but I haven't quite yet. I've still got time! ;)
  • Dream Thief by Stephen Lawhead (re-read)

It's Monday! Sleep Deprivation 101

This semester on Mondays I have clinicals for nursing school from 7-3 (so I have to get up at about four to get there on time) and then I have work from 4-9 (so I don't get to bed until ten). Then I repeat that schedule on Tuesday. :( Needless to say this will be a very sleep deprived semester. I had my first week of it this past week and I think I was going crazy at the end of Tuesday. :( However, I lived through it and didn't kill any patients or library patrons for that matter, so I think I may yet make it. ;)
I was also able to catch up with my book reviews this week and reading so a good week overall. :)

Finished this week

  • Macbeth by William Shakespeare (audiobook)
  • Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery (re-read) (audiobook)
  • The Bridge to Terebethia by Katherine Patterson (re-read)

Currently Reading

  • The Valley of Vision
  • Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery (re-read) (audiobook)

Coming Soon

  • Watership Down by Richard Adams (re-read)
  • Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

It's Monday! First Exam Passed!

I had a stressful last week worrying about and studying for my first exam of the semester. It went alright though thankfully. Reading even went alright last week and I'm even on track according to Goodreads! Unfortunately for my reading time, I think school will only get more time consuming. School is the priority now but I sure wish it was reading! ;)
I was finally able to finish the TV Show The Adventures of Merlin last week though... I'm not sure if I said on the blog but I did finish Stargate: Atlantis over the Christmas break. Now I'm watching Firefly and loving it! :) Too bad it's only one season. :(

Finished this week

  • Peace Like a River by Leif Enger
  • Under the Greenwood Tree by Thomas Hardy

Currently Reading

  • The Valley of Vision
  • Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery (audiobook) (re-read)

Coming Soon

  • Macbeth by William Shakespeare
  • Watership Down by Richard Adams (re-read)
  • Bridge to Terebethia by Katherine Patterson (re-read)
  • The Young Carthaginian by G.A. Henry (re-read)

Final Thoughts

The last couple weeks have been more harrowing then I would have imagined just a month ago. At that time I was freaking out about one more test and then a final and wondering how on earth I was going to survive sanely through the craze. Right before Thanksgiving break though, everything changed. My grandfather, who for many years has struggled with Parkinson's disease, was pronounced unable to swallow after having struggle with swallowing for some time. The family made the decision to put him on Hospice. Almost every day my family and I were there with him at the nursing home. We worked on our school as best we could, watching and waiting. Though he was unresponsive, we talked to him and hugged him, not wanting him to die alone. My last test came on a Friday and afterwards I went as always to his bedside and began studying for my final. I could tell as soon as I came in that his breathing was worse and when the Hospice nurse came in she confirmed my fears. Her guess was that he would not make it through the night. When my grandmother was wheeled in to his bedside she put her hand on his chest as the pastor told him that she was there. My grandpa opened his eyes for the last time. His breathing continued though and those of us that were in there kept talking. A few minutes later it was the pastor that noticed that he had stopped breathing. A nurse confirmed it. My grandfather had went to be with his Savior. The tears came and the work began. As those around me began preparations for the funeral I buried myself in my studies for my final. I was incredibly blessed by those around me who gave me every opportunity to study admit the chaos. One of my nursing school friends let me come over to her house to study so I wouldn't be distracted by the multiplying family members at my house. My cousin took the time to quiz me over countless questions the evening before and the morning of the test... imparting noogies to me when I missed questions. I took the final and came out with an incredible sense of relief that it was over and a fear of the results. It was past though and now I could enjoy being with my family as we celebrated my grandmother's birthday before the visitation for my Grandpa. In-between that time I got me results back for my final... I had done well and I had passed the class! Again I was overwhelmed by God's grace in getting me through the final, and indeed the whole class, despite the many obstacles. At the visitation and the funeral I was reminded of my Grandpa's love and character as I saw so many people show that had been touched by his generous and loving nature. At the funeral, the pastor reminded us all that though Grandpa was a generous, kind, funny and loving, those did not make him a great man and he knew that. Grandpa knew that he was nothing apart from God and it was because of God that he had those incredible qualities and touched so many lives.
I look back now and I am incredibly grateful for my Grandfather and the years I had with him. However, I know that however much I miss him, he does not miss me as he is in heaven with his Savior.

Bout of Books: Day 4

Bout of BooksYesterday I read about an hour on Our Mutual Friend and about thirty minutes on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Not tons of time I know but today I had a math assessment for nursing so I wanted to make sure I was ready for that. Hopefully this afternoon and evening I'll have more time.
Tomorrow I'm not so sure how much reading I'll get done because as we all know DOCTOR WHO STARTS UP AGAIN TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!! I'm just a little bit excited. ;)
Be sure to be keeping up with my progress on the Beat the Heat Readathon here.

Bout of Books: Day 2

Bout of BooksYesterday was my first day of school for the semester so reading wasn't exactly on the front lines in my mind. I know, I know.... reading is more important than school! I guess I was just confused about priorities. ;)
So all I got done yesterday was (re)reading about an hour and a half in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. However, that's better than nothing!
Do you want to hear a little about how school is going? I knew you'd be interested!
I'm really liking my teachers so far. One of them is definitely about the best teacher I've ever had. He makes me laugh so hard! I know I shouldn't rate teachers off of how much they make me laugh but I do. Other than that though he is a really effective teacher and I really feel like I learned a lot even though I wasn't totally focused.
Hope everyone else's school is kicking off as well as mine and I hope y'all are reading more than me. ;)
P.S. Keep up with my progress in the Beat the Heat Readathon here.

Bookish and not so Bookish Thoughts (Post Test Stress)

  1. I'm tired... Spring break was supposed to be relaxing but I came out of it very tired. :( Theme of my life.
  2. I got lots of reading done last week though! I exceeded my goal for the month by one book early which makes me happy. That was a first. :)
  3. Finally I got my review for Anthony Trollope's The Warden published. Read it here. :)
  4. I also published my review of Tolkien's The Children of Húrin. Check that out here! :)
  5. The other day I started reading Dean Koontz's book Odd Thomas. I'm just a few chapters into it but I'm enjoying it immensely. I love his writing style, it's quirky and humorous. I've read a couple of his other books before and enjoyed those as well. I'm thinking I should pick up more of his books sometime when I'm not so busy (haha).
  6. As you can see from the title of my post, I'm experiencing post test stress. I had a test yesterday that I am very thankful to have over but wish I could have done better on. That's how it goes though isn't it?
  7. I started listening to Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South last week and I'm enjoying it a lot. I've already watched the miniseries so it's interesting to compare them. There are some differences, but thankfully not major ones because y'all know how I get about differences between books and movies. ;)
  8. It's the final stretch of school for this semester and I'm just stressed out so instead of doing my school I just sit and write blog posts. Very productive.
  9. I think I found the perfect reading chair the other day. It was incredibly comfortable. :) I didn't care for the colors (big purple flours on a navy back ground... kind of gaudy) at all but besides that I want it!
  10. P.S. Don't wake up at four o clock the day of your test to study or else you come out super hyper the next day.

Exciting Thoughts (Bookish and not so Bookish)

I had a pretty great week and you'll see why!

  1. First off, remember how last week I complained that I wasn't able to see that birth? Well this week I got to watch my very first birth via C-section!!!!! :) :) :) I'm still giddy about it. :) Just about the best moment of my life. I'm not a very emotional person (meaning I'm not prone to crying) but I did tear up and had to catch myself. The best part was the dad told me that he could tell I am going to love my job when I'm a nurse. I'm glad that my enthusiasms showed through my introvertism. :)
  2. Nothing can really top that one but I need ten so let's keep going! NEXT WEEK IS SPRING BREAK!!! That is pretty exciting except that we have a test the Wednesday after so I can only let myself relax so much.
  3. I did get started on The Children of Húrin this last week but I'm not too far yet.
  4. So guess what? We're taking those photos a THIRD time today. It's actually kind of funny. I don't really mind as it's not like I'm getting much studying done today... all I can think about is the break.
  5. The weather here in Kansas is AMAZING!!!! It was up in the seventies a couple days ago and it is in the sixties today. I've got some great walks in too.
  6. My dad brought me grapefruit fruit cups the other day. He just saw them at the store and knew I'd like them so he got them for me. :) I have a wonderful dad. :)
  7. I had a dream last night (oh no a dream story!) that I was pregnant, went into labor and had a baby all within the space of about an hour. All I can say is that if my labor will be that quick then I'm all for it! Anyways, that just goes to show that I am a little obsessed with childbirth at the moment.
  8. I'm getting this urge to re-read the Harry Potter series for some unknown reason. I've probably re-read those more than any other series... except perhaps the Redwall series. It's odd because they really aren't even in my top books list, but I just enjoy reading them as they are an easy read.
  9. I watched the third season of Sherlock last weekend. It was okay but I didn't enjoy it as much. That's just my opinion though so don't quote me on it. :)
  10. I've been having a really great time talking to my brother this morning. We don't get as much time to talk anymore because we're both so busy with school. However, I implanted myself by him while he was at work this morning and we had several laughs, which are sometimes hard to extract from him... he's more introverted than I am. We keep the library fun. :)

Giveaway Winner!!!! (and a little life)

There's talent... and then there's talent. Me, I've got the latter. This morning for breakfast I made a smoothie and there was spinach in it so it ends up kind of looking like puke, which doesn't bother me. However, when I'm "talented" enough to dump it on my white scrub top... well...
I didn't let that dampen my absolutely amazing day at nursing clinicals today though. I got to watch my very first birth via C-section today and it was an absolutely magical experience! Today was the best clinical day I have had yet. I'll even admit I almost cried several times today. Hearing a baby's first cry just about did it.
However, I'm sure you're far more interested in the winner of the giveaway for a handmade beach bag! So I'm very excited to announce that Andrea Stoeckle!!!! and I recommend you check it out. I'll be contacting Andrea and she'll soon be getting her handcrafted bag. :)
Thank you to everyone who participate and I hope to do another giveaway sometime in the near future. The weather is amazing right now in Kansas and I hope you are enjoying equally splendid weather. Have a great day and God bless! :)

Bookish and not so Bookish Thoughts ( Non-tired edition)

Time again for bookish and not so bookish thoughts, hopefully this week my tiredness won't get in the way of my writing. :)

My new haircut!
  1. I had my first clinical rotation for OB this week but my patient didn't give birth before I left. :( I'm sure it isn't just me that would have been happier if the baby had come sooner. Next time... Next time!
  2. I finally finished The War of the Worlds. I enjoyed it and there should be a review coming (relatively) soon. Be sure to check out my reading challenges progress in the sidebar or in the reading challenges tab. With finishing War of the Worlds I got points for two different challenges (Back to the Classics and To Be Read Pile challenge).
  3. I started reading Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and I'm surprisingly enjoying it so far. I'm actually highlighting in it, which is something I never do with fiction books.... Of course that could also something to do with the fact that I am using the iBooks app to read it. :)
  4. I got a haircut... the shortest I've ever had it yet. It's the style that is shorter in the back, which is a big change. I have so much less hair now that it's taking some getting used to.
  5. We got a random snow day this week, which I actually didn't expect them to call. It was nice though to relax and get caught up on school work and then I also got my taxes and FAFSA done.
  6. I did a little more listening with The Warden earlier this week but in general I haven't been really diligent about listening to it. When it comes to audiobooks, I tend to just listen to them here and there when the opportunity arises. If it was warmer I would go on walks and then I would listen to it then. It needs to be warmer.
  7. I had a great time at my church's women's retreat this past weekend. There was a lot of great teaching and fellowship.
  8. I had to have another photo shoot as the first one's photos didn't work out. If you didn't see my past post about that, I had photos taken of me for my college's quarterly magazine. The needed a nursing student and through mutual acquaintances they alighted on me. :)
  9. I was going to start reading Tolkien's Children of Húrin last evening but by the time I got around to it, it was too late and I highly value my sleep time. Maybe I can start it today.
  10. I bought some grapefruit juice earlier this week and it is SO good! I have been eating grapefruit but they're kind of a pain to cut up and rather messy so I thought I'd try the juice. I don't think I'll ever go back now. It is DELICIOUS! :)

Fitting Reading in with School

I need a zap or something. The reading zap. I actually need as studying zap more but a reading zap would be more fun.
In other words, busy with school and other various activities (which are limited due to school), I did not finish a single book this week. However, I did do some reading on War of the Worlds, but I'm not done with it yet. So I'm going to continue on reading that and listening to the audiobook of The WardenHopefully, hopefully, HOPEFULLY, for the third week in a row, I'll start Children of Húrin this week. School is really busy and this last week I've come to realize that I need to put even more time yet into it so it isn't going to get any better. I'm planing to take some time though to relax this week and sneak in some reading or listen to an audiobook. How much I'll get done though really depends.
In more fun news, and by fun I mean more fun relative to school, we've had lots of snow and ice here in Kansas and I'm currently having to stay at my parents so I don't get snowed in out in the middle of nowhere. I'm also getting my first OB rotation tomorrow for nursing school, which I have high hopes for. :) Agh! I'm back to school! It never escapes me. :(

Monthly Resolutions- March 2014

This month I've made a momentous decision. Let me explain.
I first started doing these monthly resolutions and report card posts to link up with Kelli from She Learns as She Goes. When she stopped doing them, I just kept on going because I found they kept me more accountable. This month, I've decided to host the link up. I am in no way trying to replace what Kelli did just trying to carry it on until she may or may not decide to start it up again (which I would love it if she did!). :) So be sure to make your own post with monthly resolutions and link up below and at the end of the month I'll have a Report Card link up so we can all see how we did on our resolutions. It's all just fun so no real pressure. Enjoy! :)

Read or re-read five books

I fell behind one book last month but I'll pick that one up this summer instead of trying to layer that one on right now while I'm in the midst of school. Hopefully this month I'll finish up listening to the audiobook of The Warden, finish reading the ebook of The War of the Worlds, finally start The Children of Húrin and get some other fun reading in. :)

Memorize Psalm 31:5-6

To go along with my year's resolution of memorizing Psalm 31

Pray Daily

It has become far more of a habit now, which is great, but that doesn't mean I get to slack off now! Quite the opposite!

Do one Crochet project

Hopefully I can slip this in somewhere. When I got a new coat last month I bought some yarn to make a hat and scarf to match but I never got around to making them... maybe that should be my next project.

Read a Psalm a day

I realized a little late that I forgot to include that in my resolutions last month but I still did it. This month I plan to continue on with that.

At least two blog posts per week

I know I overdid it last month and I'll probably over do it again this month but better safe then sorry.

No Netflix

A new goal this month. I've been using my brother's account and he's discontinuing it anyways so there shouldn't be anything too hard about that. However, my sister and I are probably going to start up our own and go fifty-fifty on it so I'll still have to resist. I feel I could be better spending my time reading or studying.

Study, study study!

I've got to be a more diligent student. This semester of nursing school is a killer and I am going to have to work as hard as I can to pass it. It is traditionally the hardest semester and it is not uncommon for people to fail it. I really don't want to do that. So study! :)

Report Card- February 2014

School has very much been consuming my time anymore. I scarcely watch anything via netflix anymore except Phineas and Ferb (don't judge till you've seen it) because they're only twenty minutes. I have surprisingly doing a lot with my blog this month, doing lots of link ups every week. It's been tons of fun to meet other bloggers through that. Anyways, here's my report card for the month.

Read or Re-read five books

I re-read Mary Poppins Opens the Door, Mary Poppins in the Park, Ender's Shadow and Don't Waste Your Life. I would highly recommend all of those books. Unfortunately I only finished four. Close enough? ;)

Memorize Scripture

I memorized, as planned, verses three and four of Psalm 31. I try to work on them every evening when I read my bible and that's working out well. Last month I memorized them by putting them to song, but this month I did it by coming up with hand motions. Don't mock me! It worked!

Pray Daily

Achieved.

Do one crochet project

Unfortunately not even started. It wasn't exactly a priority so I let it slip. I got so many done last month though that I think we can forgive me... right?

At least two blog posts per week

As you well know, I way over achieved on this goal. But it was a lot of fun. This is a link to all of my posts for this moth. :) I would especially recommend my Classics Club post and my book review of the Mary Poppins books

Some good and some bad, but on the whole a good month for not only my resolutions but just life in general. :) Be sure to check back tomorrow as I'll have an announcement with my resolutions post!

My Crazy Thoughts: Bookish and not so Bookish

This week has been a roller coaster and right now I'm just really looking to some relaxing and uplifting time at my Church's women's retreat.
Me: Very tired and at work. If you get a latte instead of
a cappuccino, or The Lord of the Rings instead of Twilight, you'll
know why. Actually, the latter example might be on purpose. ;)
  1. Number one thought, I'm still tired... really tired.
  2. I've got to buckle down on school... got to! That really should have been my number one thought but I was too tired to think of it. This second semester of nursing school is so much harder then the first and I had enough struggles with the first.
  3. I need to finish War of the Worlds by tomorrow or else I'll fail my five books for the month goal... which actually that wouldn't be the first time I've failed but I've had a pretty good run recently of keeping up with my reading goals so I'd rather not fail.
  4. I want it to be warmer. In my opinion only December should be cold and then only so there will be snow, and then only so that we'll have a white Christmas. Besides that nada! I'm not begging for summer though! I kind of envision spring.
  5. Despite school begin a pain, I'm still really enjoying all of the childbirth content. I can't wait until I get to the OB part of my clinical rotation! :)
  6. Do y'al have any methods for deterring distractions (especially internet distractions) while studying? I have deleted my Facebook app on my phone which has helped, and I can block certain websites on my computer with my Self Control app for periods of time but still... I'm kind of ADHD when it comes to studying. :(

Thoughts: Bookish and not so Bookish

I keep trying to change up the names for these posts that I do weekly but I'm really having to get creative. :) Anyways, this week I'm linking up once again with Bookishly Boisterous to give you ten bookish (and not so bookish) thoughts. Enjoy!

  1. I got to FINALLY see the movie of The Book Thief this week and I really enjoyed it. There will be a full review of it soon (hopefully) but for now my thoughts are that it is one of the best book to movie adaptations I've seen and not necessarily because it is so perfectly honest to the book but actually partly because there are parts from the book it left out that I'm glad they did. Weird I know but this is Lois we're talking about. ;)
  2. I had a great clinic week for nursing school this week! One of my best yet. :) Obviously I can't really say what made it so great, HIPPA laws and all but just know that it was great. :)
  3. I have an iPad now! Kind of... It was one my parents got from my grandmother after her stroke as there were apps to help post stroke patients but because of how the stroke affected her body they weren't helpful. So it's been laying around our house since. However, my nursing school has moved towards eBooks so I asked if I could use it and so now I'm using it! :) Unforunatley I can't post blog posts from it. :( My brother informed me I expect too much from my electronics. Maybe...
  4. I am almost, almost, almost done with the Mary Poppins books. If you missed it yesterday, here's my review of them. I've really enjoyed re-reading them.
  5. I'm also enjoying reading War of the Worlds. I've only seen an older film version of it, which I enjoyed so I was interested in reading it. So far, the book is quite different from the movie.
  6. I've become more diligent about listening to The Warden. I've started trying to listen to it in the car, which is a little difficult if you're zipping down the highway at 70 mph but I manage. I should check audiobooks out from the library instead of trying to listen to them on my phone but you know I'm not that smart. ;)
  7. I've been enjoying the Quizup app a lot. I mostly do the Lord of the Rings or Disney. I'm at the Dúnedain level right now and use the user name "Eowyn sister-daughter" in the Lord of the Rings. :) I feel very geeky. :)
  8. It was warmer earlier this week, which was AMAZING... but then yesterday it dropped back down to frigid weather. :( I want summer... I love summer. Well actually I like spring the best weather wise but then I have finals and I DON'T like those.
  9. Yesterday I did a photo shoot for a magazine. I'll bet you didn't know I was famous? ;) Well I TOTALLY am.... not. It was for my college's quarterly magazine and they wanted pictures of a nursing student and one of the students organizing it also works with me at the library so that's how I got picked. :) It was fun though. :) They took pictures of me in my scrubs and then in normal school clothes. I had to stand in the exact same position and hold myself the exact same way for both pictures as they are going to use half of each picture to combine them and make one picture. :)
  10. And last but not least, I'm tired... still. Remember how last week I said I was tired, well that hasn't changed. It's what nursing school does to you. :)
