And Yet Another Liebster Award!

I've lost track of the number of Liebster Awards I've been nominated for but here goes another one. This time Hamlette from Hamlette's Soliloquy nominated me.
Here's my answers to the eleven questions Hamlette asked me. :)
1. Are there any movies you like better than the books they were based on? No! That's sacrilegious! ;) Just kidding. Actually there is one... but only one. I liked the movie of The Book Thief better than the book. Sue me. ;)
2. Have you ever liked a remake better than the original film? I'm really racking my brain trying to think of a film where I've seen both the remake and the original. I even talked to my dad about it who is a movie genius and we could come to no conclusion on one. Part of it is I think it's unfair to include films based off of books but apparently that's what I'll have to go with. I prefer the 2015 version of Far From the Madding Crowd to the 1967 version and I prefer the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice to the 1980 and 1940 versions but I do NOT prefer the 2005 version to the 1995 version... which if you're a long time reader of the blog you'll know already. :)
3. What movie do you enjoy introducing other people to? Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is fun to introduce to people because it's so odd.
4. Do you identify strongly with any movie characters? Anne Shirley, Catherine Morland, Jo March... which are all book characters also... cheating again!
5. Do you have any favorite film score composers? John Williams! I also adore Howard Shore's LOTR and Hobbit soundtracks.
6. What's the oldest movie you've ever watched? I've actually watched the first ever made movie, which if you've seen Hugo you'd be familiar with. It is about some scientists that travel to the moon and their rocket hits the eye of the man in the moon. It's.... odd.
7. What's the newest movie you've watched? Captain America: Civil War!!!!
8. Do you have any favorite movie-watching snacks? Popcorn for sure.
9. Whose movie recommendations do you tend to trust? My dad's.
10. What was the last movie you watched? Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.... My brother was watching it with a friend and I got sucked in because I can't get enough of Kenneth Branagh playing Gilderoy Lockhart!
11. What's the next movie you plan to watch? We need to finish rewatching the LOTR. Return of the King is next! :)

Steal the questions and consider yourself tagged if you have the mind!

Beautiful Blogger Award

Marianne at Let's Read nominated me for the Beautiful Blogger Award! Thank you!
Here are the rules:
1. Link to the blogger who has nominated you.... linked above.
2. List 7 random facts about you.
3. Nominate 7 creative, beautiful bloggers and let them know about about the nomination.

Random Facts... I've done lots of random facts in the past with these awards or with tags so instead I'm going to go with random memes/pictures that explain me. ;)

I'm lazy about tagging/nominating people so just consider yourself awarded if you so chose. :)

3rd Liebster Award!

Hamlette from The Edge of the Precipice and Hamlette's Soliloquy tagged me for my 3rd Liebster Award! Thank's Hamlette!
For this award I have to answer the 11 questions Hamlette posed to me and then give 11 random facts about me. :)
  1. Do you have a favorite mug or teacup? I have a beautiful teacup my friend (and now sister-in-law!) eBeth, a T.A.R.D.I.S. mug she also gave me and then a larger mug that I bought myself. I love using all of those depending on the occasion or my mood. :)
  2. Are you an adventurous eater? Yes! I like trying strange things! :)
  3. What fandoms are you into? Doctor Who! Pride and Prejudice! Period dramas! Stargate: Atlantis! Firefly! Merlin! And so many more!
  4. What famous book/author do you not really care about? Gulliver's Travels! See why HERE in my review.
  5. What obscure author/book are you nuts about? I'm a classics reader as you all know so I read a lot of obscure stuff. Probably The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins.... in fact everything I've read by Wilkie Collins has been great so far. :) I truly think he is an underrated author.
  6. What's the oldest movie you've ever watched? I actually watched the first movie ever made just about a month ago. Okay, technically I don't think it's the first movie ever made but I think it's the only one currently surviving? If you've watched Hugo it's the one referenced in it. The title is A Trip to the Moon. It's actually in color because the maker of the film and his wife went through and painted ever slide! The version I watched had music added to the background which wasn't bad necessarily but it was kind of weird music.
  7. What did you have for breakfast today? My mom's homemade bread!
  8. When did you first see your favorite movie? My favorite movie as you all know is the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice. I don't remember when I first saw it as I basically grew up watching it. It came out only a year after I was born so conceivably I could have started watching it when I was just a year old!
  9. Do you prefer fantasy or sci-fi? How dare you make me chose! I love them both! I'm a huge fan of Tolkien's work when it comes to fantasy but I love other fantasy writers like C.S. Lewis, Lloyd Alexander, L.B. Graham and so many more. When it comes to sci-fi I enjoy Doctor Who, Stargate: Atlantis and Firefly and there's many more sci-fi shows I want to get into.
  10. What did you expect your blog to be like when you first started it? Mostly about tea actually.... obviously that's changed.
  11. Has it changed? If so how? Well that's a serendipitous question. ;) I've branched out into movies, books, TV shows, cultural issues and really just about anything and everything.
And now for some random facts!

  1. I love sleeping with a fan on in my room. I'd rather have more blankets and the fan on then no fan and just a sheet.
  2. When I first read Pride and Prejudice I thought it was just okay. I was pretty young though.... nine years old. Now of course it's my favorite!
  3. When I first read The Lord of the Rings when I was 6 or 7 (I had to read it before watching the movies) I don't even remember what I thought about it. When I re-read it later (probably around 12) I thought it was too long and boring. Then when I re-read it for the the third time a few years ago I couldn't get enough of it and I've loved re-reading it ever since. It's funny how some books are like that.
  4. Recently with taking out stitches on a few of my patients at work I've realized the benefit of the couple years with the Entomology (study of insects) project during my 4-H years (I quit the entomology project due to my severe poison ivy allergy). Pinning the insects was a very detailed process taking a lot of precision. Those same skills have come in handy with snipping tiny stitches.
  5. Though, as mentioned above, I've left the Entomology project far behind, I'm still very specific about the fact that it's lady BEETLES not ladyBUGS. Because they're from the order Coleoptra which is the scientific order for BEETLES... NOT bugs! Lady BEETLES is the correct term. I've argued with three year olds over this point. A little overkill? Yeah, probably... but I'm not giving an inch! And neither was the three year old...
  6. I have a new fashion love right now which is the floor length dresses. They're super comfy and hide my fat legs. ;) I keep buying them! I think I have a problem. ;)
  7. I recently won a bunch of very cool bookmarks from various blog giveaway but can you believe but I haven't used them once but instead have been using an old movie ticket stub! I have issues!
  8. My two favorite soda pops are Dr. Pepper and Root Beer.... though I rarely drink pop.
  9. To go along with my previous fact, I can't tell the difference between regular and diet pop. A quirk I'm thankful for.
  10. I have a deep seated hatred for Halloween.... it stems mostly from the last two years having issues with traffic and roads being blocked off for trick-or-treaters. Also a little kid in Wal Mart telling his mom he wanted to dress up as the devil for Halloween. Now the traditional Reformation Day I love!
  11. I'm hosting a read-along of Jane Austen's novel Emma right now! If you haven't joined up be sure to HERE.
Thank you so much Hamlette for tagging me! If you haven't checked out Hamlette's blog sbefore be sure to! I love reading them!

So here are my questions for my nominees! I liked Hamlette's questions so I'm stealing some of them. :)
  1. What's the oldest movie you've ever watched?
  2. What's the oldest book you've ever read (excluding the Bible)?
  3. Do you say lady beetle or ladybug? ;)
  4. Have you ever re-read a book and changed your opinion on it from the first time you read it?
  5. What are you most excited for this summer? Or something that already happened this summer that you were excited for.
  6. What's your favorite soda pop flavor(s)?
  7. What's the meaning of your name? Do you feel like it goes along with your personality? Why or why not?
  8. Have you ever had an obscure talent come in handy at a time you didn't expect?
  9. What fandoms are you a part of?
  10. Do you sleep with a fan on at night?
  11. What are your feelings Halloween?
And I'm tagging... Whosoever wants to feel tagged! If you're reading this consider yourself tagged and duly awarded! :) Even if you've already been tagged by someone else and you are just dying to answer my questions (because they're so AWESOME!) then go ahead. I was going to tag people but then I realized Hamlette tagged most of the people I wanted to!
Have a fun day and God bless! :)

Sisterhood Blogger Award

Thank you to Bethany and Becca from the blog Clever Bunnies for nominating me for the Sisterhood Blogger Award! :)
Rules:
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site (duly done above)
  • Put the award logo on your blog (observe it to the right)
  • Answer the the questions sent to you (duly done below)
  • Make up ten new questions for you nominees to answer (duly done below)
  • Nominate ten blogs (Duly done below)
Now for answering Bethany and Becca's questions. :)
  1. If you were stranded on an island with a box, what would you want to be in that box? Food, water and the Bible- because man cannot live on bread alone. ;)
  2. Do you like to go camping and if so, where do you prefer to sleep (tent, camper, cabin, under the stars etc)? Growing up my family didn't really go camping but a few years ago my younger brother got a tent and since then I've camped a couple times down at the river/wooded area that run through my parents property. However every time we do that there's a storm and we end up having to go home halfway through the night. :(
  3. What's the craziest thing you've ever cooked/baked? I'm not sure. Maybe my greek yogurt biscuits. :) They were rather on the unconventional side but delicious nonetheless. :)
  4. What's the last movie you saw in theaters? Avengers: Age of Ultron :)
  5. If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you chose? A dog :)
  6. Favorite flavor to combine with chocolate? There are so many good ones! I think maybe caramel or coffee. :)
  7. If you were zapped back in time, where would you hope to end up and what one thing would you want with you? The victorian era I think... Jane Austen time period. ;) I'd want a copy of Pride and Prejudice so Jane Austen herself could autograph it. ;)
  8. Do you sing along to the radio? I don't listen to the radio a lot... but when I do... yes. :)
  9. Do you have any nicknames? I so what are they? I know I've mentioned them in a post before but here goes again. :) The main ones are- LoLo and Legalois (Like Legolas from LOTR... technically I know it should be legOlois but I always spell it with an A because otherwise it just looks like I love legos). ;)
  10. You are all alone in your house and you hear a strange noise, what do you do? This happens to me all the time. I have variations of checking the door to make sure it's locked, creeping around the house to make sure no one is there or staying sitting comfortably in a recliner and shouting out to the house "if there's anyone there I'm armed". Thank goodness no one's ever taken me up on that threat. ;)

My questions for my nominees are:
  1. Do you have any nicknames?
  2. Favorite movie?
  3. Favorite book?
  4. Favorite TV show?
  5. How many siblings do you have?
  6. How many kids would you like to have? OR If you already have kids... How many kids do you have and do you want more?
  7. What is your favorite activity to do with your family?
  8. What is your current school status?
  9. Dream vacation (if money was no object)?
  10. Do you like tea? (just cause) ;)
I'll tag: Olivia (Meanwhile in Rivendellw), Selah (Bibliophile's Style), Julie (Smiling Shelves), Lianne (Eclectic Tales), Ashley (A-Z), Heidi (Along the Brandywine), Sophie (Ravens and Writing Desks), Katrina (Chased by my Imagination), Katherine (I Wish I Lived in a Library) and Holly (Nut Free Nerd).
If you want to join in on this and I didn't tag you just hop along! :)

Second Liebster Award

Sophia from Ravens and Writing Desks nominated me for my second Liebster Award! Thank you Sophia! Since I've already done the Liebster award once I'm not going to nominate more people but I'll go ahead and answer her questions and give the eleven facts about me. :)

11 Facts About Me

  1. If I ever meet you and I am looking at your arms, don't be weirded out, I'm just imagining putting an IV in your veins... okay, be weirded out. ;)
  2. When watching Saving Mr. Banks for the second time last evening, I remarked that I didn't think I could ever hand over the rights to a book I wrote and my cousins helpfully informed me that I would probably be like P.L. Travers. After getting over my initial reactions I realized she was probably right... in fact, the more I think about it the more I know she is. All of this to say that I am definitely a book purist. :)
  3. I like raw cookie dough better than the baked cookie ever time. :)
  4. I love Doctor Who and it is my strong opinion that there is a Doctor Who quote for every occasion and I like to demonstrate this at every available opportunity.
  5. I'm working at a pig farm this summer and it is every bit as gross as it sounds.
  6. Jane Austen is my favorite author with my favorite book being Pride and Prejudice.
  7. J.R.R. Tolkien is my second favorite author with The Lord of the Rings being my second favorite book.
  8. I'm definitely an introvert but I'm an extroverted introvert. It really depends on the level at which you know me as to how much I'll talk to you. My family and friends know how much I can talk once I get going. :)
  9. I like tea and coffee and really no preference to either; it just depends on my mood.
  10. Crochet is one of my favorite hobbies but please don't mix it up with knitting... please... just don't.
  11. I love it out in the country and I would really hate to live in town. Traffic is the main reason... it stresses me out.

Answers to Sophia's Questions

  1. What color describes you and why? I took a color personality quiz so I could answer this question and it said blue. Here's it's reasoning.

    MOTIVE [ Intimacy ]

Blues are motivated by Intimacy. They seek to genuinely connect with others, and need to be understood and appreciated. Everything they do is quality-based. They are loyal friends, employers, and employees. Whatever or whomever they commit to is their sole (and soul) focus. They love to serve and give of themselves freely in order to nurture others' lives.

    ABOUT BLUE

Blues have distinct preferences and have the most controlling personality. Their personal code of ethics is remarkably strong and they expect others to live honest, committed lives as well. They enjoy sharing meaningful moments in conversation as well as paying close attention to special life events (e.g. birthdays and anniversaries). Blues are dependable, thoughtful, and analytical; but can also be self-righteous, worry-prone, and moody. They are "sainted pit-bulls" who never let go of something or someone once they are committed. When you deal with a BLUE, be sincere and make a genuine effort to understand and appreciate them.
  2. What is your favorite writing utensil? Normally I write on my computer but sometimes if class is boring I'll scribble down story ideas in my notebook instead of notes. :(
  3. Do you take notes when you read? No. I'd say never but actually I just started reading Dickens' Our Mutual Friend and I decided to write down the characters' names so I wouldn't be as lost as I normally am in Dickens. :)
  4. What color are your socks right now? I'm not wearing any socks right now but if I was they would be white. I'm not a fun socks person. ;)
  5. Would you rather go zip lining or scuba diving? Since I've already been zip lining I think I would rather go scuba diving at this point in my life.
  6. What's your opinion on owls? Haha... not sure how to answer this. I'm not all into owls if that's what it means but I do like them.
  7. Do you wrap presents in wrapping paper or in gift bags with tissue? I try to do gift bags because then I don't have to mess with wrapping paper but I guess it depends on the present.
  8. What is your favorite reading spot? My bed or a chair, or a couch, or anywhere comfortable.
  9. What does your handwriting look like?
  10. Would you rather be able to read any books you liked- but no rereads- or only read the works of one author of your choice? If you pick the latter- which author? Any book but no rereads I suppose.
  11. Staples or paperclips? Or folded-over-corners? Either staples or paperclips depending on what it is.

Liebster Award

I'm so excited to announce that I got nominated for my SECOND blogger award! :) Morgan from XOXOMO nominated me for the Liebster award!
For those of you not familiar with the Liebster Award it's a way to encourage readership and followers for new bloggers. I enthusiastically accept the nomination and in doing so must follow the rules. The rules are as follows:
  1. That the AMAZING blogger that nominated you.
  2. Answer the 11 questions the nominator provided.
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
  4. Post 11 different question for your nominees to answer.
  5. Contact your nominee to let them know that you've nominated them.
Thank you so much for nominating me Morgan and here are my answers to your questions!
  1. Why did you start blogging? Haha... I'm not really sure. The urge just took me honestly. I've always wanted to be a writer and this was a way to do that. Obviously my blog has evolved a lot since I first started and gotten better (I think... I hope?) and I'm glad of that.
  2. If you could go on your dream vacation and money was no object where would you go? England, Scotland and Ireland. :)
  3. If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life what would it be? Turquoise or blue. I'm torn between them. :)
  4. What was the most meaningful book you ever read? The Bible is my automatic answer but besides that maybe A.W. Tozer's The Pursuit of God or R.C. Sproul's Chosen by God.
  5. What was the most boring book you ever read? When I was too young to be reading it, I read St. Augustine's Confessions and that definitely was the most boring book I have ever read but I was determined to read it and read it I did. Don't remember a thing though.
  6. What is your favorite time of year? Spring definitely! I don't like cold AT ALL and heat isn't my favorite either but I can handle it better. However spring is the perfect balance.
  7. What was the last movie you watched, was it a good one? The last movie I watched was a very old black and white film (not a silent film though) called The Ghost Train. You may recall I posted a review of it a loooooong time ago. It's just a fun, silly movie. :)
  8. Are your nails painted right now? If so, what color? Actually, abnormally right now I have my toenails painted kind of a metallic lavender color. I really like the look. :)
  9. Country or city girl? Country girl!
  10. What is one thing you wish you were better at? Singing... I just can't sing and I have always wished I could. I guess one can't everything right? Amazing looks, amazing brains AND an amazing voice??? ;)
  11. If you had to teach a subject at school, what subjects do you think you would be most equipped to teach? Yikes! It would depend on what grade level. I think I would be qualified to teach literature at most any level but that's kind of an easy school subject. However, I do know a lot about that. I could probably do Composition, History and Spanish at certain levels too. I'm planning on being a homeschooling mom so I'll have to teach it all someday. :)
The blogs that I want to nominate today are:
  1. Jayne's Blog
  2. Let's Read
  3. Jillian's Books
  4. Innocent Smiley's Reviews
  5. NutFreeNerd
  6. Lost Generation Reader
  7. Chased by My Imagination
  8. Unscripted
  9. Caffeinated Life
  10. Victorious Heroine
  11. The Introverted Reader
I'll have you know that actually coming with the number of bloggers I was supposed to is a vast improventt from my first blogger award where I only came up with four. It shows how much my blog has grown and all of the other great bloggers I have gotten to "meet"! I'm loving it! These are all great blogs and I recommend you go check them out! Some of them I've been following for awhile and others of them I've only just recently started following but I enjoy all of them. :)

The questions I want my nominees to answer are as follows:
  1. Who's your favorite author?
  2. What is your favorite book?
  3. Why did you starting blogging?
  4. What is your favorite TV show?
  5. What is your favorite movie?
  6. What is your current school status?

Thanks again Morgan for nominating me and and thank you readers for following me on my crazy blogging adventures. :)

The Versatile Blogger Award

So two posts in a day? What's up with that? Well I just found out I've been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award!!! This is my first blogger award I've been nominated for so I'm kind of just a little bit SUPER excited. :) I was nominated by Morgan from Morgan's Blog, which is a fun blog with all sorts of interesting fashion tidbits and other fun stuff. Thank you Morgan!
So I'm supposed to include seven fun facts about myself but as y'all know all facts about myself are fun. ;) So anyways, here are my seven facts. I tried not to include any that you could find anyways on my blog.
1) I'm always cold.... I guess except for when it is like 100˚ but only then!
2) Drinking tea is actually a mood thing for me. I have to be in the mood to drink tea... lately I've been in the mood.
3) I'm a phases kind of a person... like as I mentioned with drinking tea. Sometimes I am in a phase of eating pancakes, other times I'm really into eating salad. However, I am ALWAYS in a greek yogurt phase.
4) I'm always tired. If you know me well, you already knew that.
5) I don't talk to Siri all the time on my iPhone. I really pretty much never do. I can think of a couple distinct times that I remember talking to Siri since I got it in April.
6) I quote movies, YouTube videos, books, my family, and anything else that could possibly be quoted. Originality doesn't exist with me.
7) I saw a meme the other day that said "Having inside jokes with yourself." I looked at that and I knew that was me. Yep... no life. :)

I think those facts about me were INCREDIBLY fun!
So now for my nominations for the Versatile Blogger Award.
Suzanne from Just Another Girl
Kaylin from Average Christian Geek
Hayley from Victorious Heroine
Katie from Katie Lyn
I assume we can't nominate someone who has already been nominated but if I could I would totally nominate Morgan again!
There were supposed to be fifteen nominations but I can't think of anyone else! Sorry if I forgot you!

If you were nominated the rules for the award can be found here. Have a great day!

Lois Johnson, avid writer, tea drinker, and reader but first and foremost, avid Christian.
