This came out a while back, I know. I watched it a little more than a month ago and now, finally, I am writing this review.
So procrastinating aside, here is my review.
Synopsis: Wreck it Ralph, the villain of the game Fix it Felix, is tired of being the bad guy and being rejected and never winning a medal so after 30 years he decides to go win himself a medal... in another game. Havoc ensues and now Ralph must fix it along with the help of his new friend Vanellope.
First off, I did enjoy the film, it was fun and funny and as many before me have said, far more resembled a Pixar movie than a Disney movie. One thing I didn't like about it was that I didn't feel like it had much of a point. Yeah, okay, it somewhat of a point "you don't have to have a medal to be a hero", but I'm not sure it quite worked for me. Anyone else's thoughts or am I just being silly? I also didn't like the bit of crude humor that snuck in. There was also a little political stuff at the end I thought was silly/dumb but didn't ruin the movie for me.
There was lots I did like. The characters were great, unique in their own way and playing their part in the story well. The cute relationship that springs up between Vanellope and Wreck it Ralph is touching. I liked that Fix it Felix actually was a good guy. I assumed on first seeing him that he wouldn't be and that Ralph's and his rolls would be reversed but I was wrong. However I'm glad I was because I really like Felix in this movie. King Kandy was a great villain and... no, no spoilers, just watch it. I think all of the characters had good back stories that pulled the movie along and added interest.
I am sure there was lots of video game humor that I totally missed (because I don't play video games) but I think I might have gotten some of it. That being said, it was quite funny. I loved the references they made to The Wizard of Oz, which completely cracked me up. King Kandy was hilarious too. As I mentioned before there was some crude humor that disappointed me.
So all in all, it was a fun and entertaining flick. Let me know your thoughts on it! :)

I haven't seen it yet, but I want to! It sounds like a cute movie. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that movie!
ReplyDeleteThe point of the movie is that you should do your job well and to the best of your ability not matter what it is (assuming you are not sinning by doing it). You should delight in the skills you have and the situation you find yourself in, not turn to despair or to achieving self-glory.
ReplyDeleteI personally saw a fair number of comparisons between Mr. Incredible and Ralph.
