If you like the Arthurian legends, I do recommend L'Morte d'Arthur, and I think Guinevere and Lancelot are more likeable, and in Chretien de Troes' version they are more understandable, since Lancelot rescues her after she is abducted and raped by another king. I've given up trying to like Lancelot and Guinevere in any retelling I read (sorry, you're never going to get points for adultery), but Gareth's death makes me cry every time.Julie @ Smiling Shelveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16695465649011617565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6295647504230837189.post-37693694256344645512017-11-01T03:35:23.287-05:002017-11-01T03:35:23.287-05:00I was kind of on the fence about this book too. I ...I was kind of on the fence about this book too. I think the problem with the Arthurian legend like you said is at the end of the day it's a tragedy and everyone fails and lets everyone else down so it's kind of hard to make it lighthearted - which was why even the ending of Merlin was so terrible :( I read Le Morte Darthur for uni, and Mallory tries really hard to make you like Lancelot and Guinevere as-well. Wish both narrators would just let the reader make up their own mind! Thought it was a good read though :) Catherinehttp://basedonthbook.blogspot.co.uknoreply@blogger.com
